On over an acre of land, The Yellow House is ideally located at the corner of E. Rutherford Street and Bomar Avenue, less than 2 miles (3 minutes) to the Foothills Equestrian Nature Center, (FENCE) the location of nearly weekly horse shows and many other activities, and ten minutes to Harmon Field (about 5.5 miles straight up #176, then #108). It is an easy walk to restaurants and shops, across from Brookwood Park with its beautiful new walking trail, yet very private.

A craftsman cottage, The Yellow House was built in 1910. Well-lived in for years, with fond memories for many local residents, it went uninhabited for eighteen years. It was lovingly restored in 2006-2007. With its spacious back yard and huge shade trees, charming rooms, gracious front porch, expansive back deck and gazebo it is now available to once again create great memories for a new generation.
A Place to Stay.......
When staying in the Landrum area for horse shows, sight-seeing, weddings or reunions, The Yellow House is ideal for families or groups of friends who need a place to relax and gather. The Yellow House has four bedrooms - three on the second floor and one on the first. Ideally set up for groups, it can sleep nine people. There is a full bath on each floor, an additional powder room on the second floor, and a sink in each room. The second floor bath has an antique claw foot soaking tub as well as a six-nozzle shower. The first floor bath is handicapped accessible. And finally, there is a full kitchen, dining room, living room and foyer. The inviting back deck with its charming gazebo invites you to linger and visit awhile. Downtown is an easy stroll just a few blocks away. There are delightful shops for crafts, scrapbooking, antiquing, pet supplies and grooming, furniture. There are many fine restaurants in the Landrum area: five are within three blocks in either direction, with at least six more within a mile from the house. There are also a number of them heading north on Route#176 through Tryon, as well as within a mile of turning left and heading south on #176. Landrum is located an easy 45 minute drive to the Biltmore Estate and Ashville, NC. It is less than thirty minutes from Flat Rock, Blowing Rock, Lake Lure, and many other scenic areas. Enjoy a wonderful drive from one end of "The String of Pearls", beginning at Landrum, up route #176 through Tryon and Saluda, finishing in Hendersonville, NC. Beautiful at any time of year, there are many places and activities to fill your day. Pamper yourself, shop, dine, or visit one of the many national parks resplendent with waterfalls and foliage.

Using your own caterer, the house is available for small parties and receptions. With its lovely shaded deck and gazebo, its gracious front porch and easy access all the way around, it lends itself to cocktail parties, receptions and gatherings of up to fifty people or more. Need more space? The lawn is ideal for large tented affairs, under the stately trees with ample off-street parking. The grounds rise from the street above a stone wall and are bordered by a picket fence. A high privacy fence provides shielding from the empty lot next door, and the back of the property is bordered by woodland, with a quiet park across the street. Easily accessible, The Yellow House nestles in a bucolic setting near the center of town, ideal for weddings, receptions, fund-raisers and more!
